September Newsletter

Welcome to September! While we've got a lot to look forward to (and we mean A LOT), it's important to pause and reflect on what's been achieved in the past month through incredible new releases, country-wide events, and even personal milestones. Let's dive in.

Leeds International Beer Festival

This week, we’re back at one of our favourite craft beer festivals in the UK: Leeds International Beer Festival, back for their 12th year! We’ll be down between Thursday and Sunday at the annual 4-day festival, pouring a selection of flagship staples, limited edition specials, and some very rare pours from the cellar!

Some of the beers that we’re bringing include Lumina, Delicious Things, Eleven Finger Discount, Suspended in Krush, Existential, Caribbean Chocolate Cake and more!

Tickets are still available to purchase for all sessions, click the link below to get yours. Our events coordinator, Brodie, and team look forward to seeing you there!

Krush™ Hops

Last week, we celebrated the launch of a brand new hop; Krush™ by Yakima Chief Hops. This rising superstar of the hop world has immediately found its place through ‘Suspended In Krush™, a rare chance to taste our Suspended In series at home, and Dogs In The Moonlight, a hazy pale ale that also features Citra and Nelson Sauvin.

Developed by Hop Breeding Company, Krush™ (previously known only as the untitled HBC 586) brings an abundance of citrus, tropical and stone fruit character to any beer it touches. Krush™ went through a lengthy 17-year development under the experimental HBC 586 title – so perhaps you can see why we’re so excited to see it officially released!

You can try Krush™ for yourself in Suspended In Krush™ and Dogs In The Moonlight through the link below. Cheers!

Broken Dream: Saturday Kitchen Live

Winning us the coveted Supreme Beer of Britain 2018, our flagship stout, Broken Dream, has come a long way.. This was our second beer ever brewed, and the first to be commercially released in bottles back in 2013; a definitive flagship beer.

Did you spot Broken Dream in the spotlight on Saturday Kitchen Live, where cocktail queen Carmen O’Neal turned our moreish breakfast stout into a smooth and creamy milkshake inspired beer-cocktail?  If you missed it, you can still watch the episode (from the 21st August) on BBC iPlayer - we’re shown at around the 1:01:50 mark!

Want to try the cocktail for yourself? Click below for the full recipe, and to find out a little more about this spectacular stout.

If you missed out on ordering cans of this limited-edition brew, don’t worry, we’ll have more stock available on the webshop very soon! We’re able to add a very small top-up, hopefully just enough to allow some of you who missed out to get hold of some. This will be the final chance, so please join the mailing list to get first access and avoid disappointment.

Team News

We’re happy to introduce you to Gavin, who has taken up the role of assistant manager at our brewery Tap Yard. Gavin will be working closely alongside manager Jon and the team to bring you the best experience possible at the Tap Yard. Please join us in giving Gavin a warm welcome to the team, and be sure to drop in and say hello if you’re in the area!

We’d like to send out a massive congratulations to Regional Sales Manager Charlotte and her fiancé Liam on their engagement at Green Man Festival. We’re incredibly excited for them both, and wish them the best of luck on planning their dream wedding.

Events

Thank you to all those who visited us at the Swallowfield Show over the recent bank holiday weekend; always a local highlight of the year, and we had a fantastic time pouring some of our finest brewery-fresh beers for you. We’ll see you again next year!

Did you find us at the Nottingham Arboretum Beer Festival on the 24th? We had an absolute blast spending the weekend up north, and we hope that those of you who made it to the festival enjoyed yourselves just as much!

Dogs In The Moonlight – 5.5% Hazy Pale Ale

A dreamily soft, hazy pale ale made to put a smile on your face. Oats and wheat contribute to the smooth feeling of the beer, ready for our beautiful hops to give you flavours of candied fruits, grapefruit and lychee.

The beer was fermented with Pomona™, a modern hybrid yeast designed to bring the best out of this style, and we snuck in the new Krush™ hops for good measure.

If you’ve tried Surrounded By The Sound, Angels In The Architecture or Soft In The Middle, you’ll be sure to love this beer; our latest in the unofficial ‘You Can Call Me Al’ series!

Existential – 4.8% Gluten Free XPA

This release is new in few ways. Firstly, it’s the debut of the XPA (Extra Pale Ale) style for us, something that has been grabbing the craft beer world by storm recently. Secondly, it’s gluten free – the perfect release for fans of Lumina, Pastel Pils and Futurist who are gluten-intolerant.

We layered hop flavours throughout the whole brew on this one. Tropical fruits and fresh citrus notes are prominent, with background depth of peach, apricot and nectarine. Key players are Citra, Strata and Mosaic with a touch of centennial in the kettle also.

Existential is our first XPA, but certainly not our last!

Delicious Things - 6% Tropical Fruit Sour

Our latest summer sour beer is packed full of... you guessed it... delicious things. Juicy Alphonso mango, peach and guava bring a cacophony of fruit to a mouth-puckeringly sharp base beer, cut with zingy lime juice. Crush it while you can.

Body Language – 4% Robust Stout

We've teamed up with Madrid's Cervecera Peninsula on this classic, robust and sessionable stout. Body Language is layered up with biscuity, nutty and roasty malted barley, with a caramelised character from rich dark sugar and just the tiniest hint of smoke. A comforting beer with moreish drinkability.
